Daredevil is a fictional superhero character owned by Marvel Comics.

Daredevil is blind, but has a radar sense and his other four senses are so enhanced that he can recognize if a person is lying by listening to their their heart-beat, read a regular book by touching the print with his fingers, recognize a person by their smell, etc. Daredevil is an incredible gymnast and fighter. He carries a "billy club" which shoots out a cable that Daredevil can use to swing around the city, almost like Spider-Man and his web. His senses can detect the perfect place and way to his you for maximum effect. The irony inherent is the Daredevil character is that he is said to be fearless because of the peculiar nature of his power. He can sense exactly where things are without actually seeing them. Or, as he remarked in an early episode, "If I could see what I was doing, I'd be scared to death."

While having many friends in the super-hero community, Daredevil doesn't join super-hero teams since he says working with too many people would confuse his radar sense. He is committed to protecting the community of Hell's Kitchen, a neighborhood in Manhattan. He has teamed up with the Defenders and the Fantastic Four (Matt Murdock has acted as their lawyer) from time to time, as well as Spider-Man and others. He has a particularly contentious relationship with the Punisher, since Matt believes in justice within the law, and the Punisher murders criminals outright.

Character Origin

Matt Murdock's father is "Battlin Jack Murdock", an aging boxer. He wants his son Matt to become a lawyer and fight with words. Matt, wants to please his father, studying law by day, but practicing boxing with his father's equiptment by night. One day, Matt is in an accident when trying to save someone from getting hit by a truck. He accidently comes into contact with the truck's radioactive cargo, and is blinded. His sight is replaced by a radar sense and enhanced senses. When his Dad is murdered for not taking a dive in a fight, Matt decides to continue his work as a "blind lawyer", but to also search for vigilante justice fighting crime as Daredevil.
