Daniel Davis (b. November 26, 1945 in Gurdon, Arkansas) is an American actor best remembered for his role as Niles on the CBS sitcom, The Nanny. His performance on the series The Nanny as British butler, Niles, led many to believe he was, in fact, British. Davis has made numerous television appearances and may be remembered by genre fans for his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Sherlock Holmes' nemesis, Moriarty.

Davis grew up around movies. His parents owned a movie theatre which played its part in his attraction to entertainment. He made his television debut at 11 on the children's TV series Betty's Little Rascals. He later studied acting at the Arkansas arts Center and then performed with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Stratford Shakespeare Festival and the American Conservatory Theatre.

He made his genre television debut guest starring on the series Highway to Heaven. Other notable guest appearances include Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Dynasty, MacGyver, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Men in Black: The Series, The Practice. He also lent his voice to the animated scifi film , Thru the Moebius Strip and, in 2006, appeared in the film The Prestige.
