Dakara

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Dakara is a planet in the Milky Way once inhabited by the Ancients. It is the first landing place of the Alterans in the Milky Way galaxy. They left behind one of their most powerful technologies, inside a massive monument of a seated man. It is currently known as the Dakara superweapon.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

The device, though not a weapon, can be used as one. Once activated, it releases a wave of energy that can be targeted to a specific lifeform or energy, reducing it to its base elements. It is believed the Ancients used the device to recreate human life in the galaxy.

Goa'uld Occupation

Long after the Ancients disappeared from the Milky Way, Dakara became a holy place to the Jaffa. It is the location where the first prim'tah ceremony took place establishing the Goa'uld's supremacy as gods to the Jaffa. It is also said to be the place where Anubis' first resurrection took place.

Jaffa Rebellion

Teal'c and Bra'tac, influential leaders of the Jaffa rebellion, decided that Dakara should be the place of the coming together of the Jaffa in their first battle against the goa'uld. Their success at Dakara would be symbolize to the Jaffa the strength of the free Jaffa and would ultimately prove to all Jaffa that the goa'uld were not the gods they claimed to be.

The battle over Dakara occurred just as the Replicators began a mass invasion of the Milky Way. The goa'uld system lords were largely destroyed by the Replicators and in a last effort to rid the galaxy of them, Samantha Carter and Jacob Carter worked with Baal to activate the Dakara superweapon, and target the Replicators. They successfully dialed all the stargates in the galaxy at once and a wave of energy swept through the galaxy destroying the Replicators.

With the Replicators and the System Lords gone, the Jaffa were free. Dakara was chosen as the home of the Jaffa High Council and the capital of the free Jaffa nation. A new nemesis soon threatened the galaxy in the form of the Ori.

Desperate for any means of fighting the Ori, the Jaffa council used the Dakara weapon to target human populations on Ori occupied planets, wiping them out completely. Their actions drew the attention of Adria, leader of the Ori army and she forced a Jaffa warrior to reveal the weapon's location. Adria piloted an Ori ship to the planet and destroyed the weapon obliterating much of the planet.
