Deoxyribonucleic acid is a nucleic acid that carries genetic information in the cells of living organisms. DNA is made up of two long chains of nucleotides twisted into a double helix and bound by hydrogen bonds between complementary bases of adenine, cytosine, thymine, and guanine. It contains the genetic instructions that determine the development, function and general characteristics of all living organisms.
