D. M. Cornish

D. M. Cornish (b. 1972, Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian fantasy author and illustrator best known for his Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy.

Cornish enjoyed drawing as a child and made his first book, he called "Attack from Mars" at eleven. The unpublished work featured space battles and aliens. He continued in this vein, studying illustration at the University of South Australia where he began to compile his artwork and writings.

An encounter with a children's publisher in 2003 led to further exploration of the ideas he'd compiled in various notebooks and journals. He was encouraged to write a story based on his work thus far and eventually gave up all other work to focus on his writing.
