Daniel Lawrence Hawkins is a fictional character on the TV Series Heroes played by Leonard Roberts.

D.L. is the estranged husband of Niki Sanders and the father of Micah Sanders. D.L. worked in construction but dissatisfied with the low pay he decided he wanted more and went to work for Mr. Linderman. He was a member of a crew that wore skull rings as their symbols. He left the crew and they were all murdered and two million dollars was stolen. D.L. was accused of the crime and imprisoned and came to believe he'd been framed.

D.L. is also one of several people around the world who discovered a unique ability. He can walk through walls. He used his ability to walk out of prison and visit his family. His son was excited to see him, his wife a bit less so. After spending the night with his wife they went together to a building where D.L. believed he would discover who framed him. Instead he found the battered bodies of Linderman's men.

After returning home, his wife tried to explain that she once saw something similar and that she might be responsible for it but he initially disbelieved her. When he discovered Niki was in possession of the stolen money however, he realized she was the one who killed his crew and framed him for the crime. He did not however, realize that Niki had a split personality. Her counterpart attacked him and he used his ability to disable her.

D.L. took off with Micah and they left Las Vegas. Niki, or rather, her alter ego, Jessica, came after them an attempted to kill him. He managed to survive and got through to Niki who turned herself into the police and confessed her crimes. He worked out a deal with Linderman to return the stolen money and have her released. He would later realize that Jessica was in control of his wife and working as an assassin for Linderman.

When Linderman took their son to New York to use him, he convinced Jessica to help him get him back. They traveled to New York to find Micah and came up against Linderman. Linderman offered Jessica a large sum of money to kill her husband but Niki returned and rejected it out of love for her family. D.L. managed to kill Linderman but not before he was shot in the torso. He survived the incident and he and Niki managed to get their son back.

Season 2

D. L. Recovered from his injuries and his medical bills were paid for by Bob Bishop. With a clean record and a seemingly bright future ahead, D.L. took a job as a Firefighter, wanting to show his son he was a hero. D.L. used his abilities to walk through fires his fellow fighters could not and rescued a child. His actions won him a medal and Micah was extremely proud.

Though D.L.'s job was working out, things weren't going as well for Niki. The medication she took to repress her other personalities dulled her emotions and she eventually quit taking them. A new personality, Gina, emerged and on Niki's first day of her new job, she ran off to Los Angeles to party. D.L. went after her and found her at a club dancing with a strange man. He managed to snap her back to herself and took her out, only to be shot and killed by her dancing partner.

Powers

D.L. is able to phase through solid matter. The first time this ability was seen in action on the TV series was in "Better Halves" when he defended himself against Jessica by phasing his hand through her torso. He used his ability again to rescue a stranger from a vehicle about to explode by phasing his hand through a locked door. He was helped to safety by Hiro Nakamura.

In the online graphic novel D.L. can be seen phasing through a set of handcuffs during an interrogation. After being sent to prison, he uses his ability to phase right through the walls and escape.
