Cyborg is a fictional comic book superhero owned by DC Comics. He is known mostly for his association with the Teen Titans.

Cyborg is Victor Stone, half man and half machine, a member of the Teen Titans since its popular reintroduction in 1980. He has enhanced strength and force, with an array of technological weapons such as a sonic cannon and a computer interface.

In the current incarnation, Victor serves as a mentor to a younger group of Teen Titans.

He has developed a close relationship with teacher Sarah Simms and her class of physically disabled students, and has dated Dr. Sarah Charles of S.T.A.R. Labs. He has a particularly close friendship with fellow Titan Gar Logan (Beast Boy).

An animated version of the character appeared in the final "Super-Friends" cartoon series entitled: The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians animated TV-series (1986)

Cyborg was also a regular on the Teen Titans (animated series) (2003-2006).

Character Origin

Like many teenagers, athletic Victor Stone has trouble relating to his scientist parents. Mr. and Mrs. Stone worked for S.T.A.R. Labs. They experiment on him, trying to enhance his intelligence. It is unclear about the extent to which these experiments affected him, but Victor grew to resent being treated by his parents as a “lab rat.” This furthered the rift between Victor and his parents, driving him to befriend an unhealthy element, including an angry black friend who was into racial terrorism, and an involvement in street fights related to local teen gangs.

The Stone family is changed forever when the scientist couple brought forth a gelatinous monster from another dimension. The monster killed Victor’s mother and horribly mutilated Victor before his father could return him to the dimensional portal. Victor’s father kept his son alive with experimental prosthetics which were ultimately effective, but gave him an inhuman cyborg appearance.

Now Victor was even angrier with his father than ever for turning him “into a freak”. Lost and bitter, Cyborg would find himself in the act of using his enhanced abilities to prevent his old friend from committing a terrorist action at the United Nations.

Realizing his potential to help people, Victor becomes a part of the 1980s New Teen Titans when Raven first calls them together to fight her father Trigon. The Titans become his surrogate family, helping to restore his self-esteem and sense of identity.
