Cy Endfield (b. November 10, 1914 — April 16, 1995) is an American director and screenwriter born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Endfield was blacklisted in the 1950s by the House Un-American Activities Commmittee (HUAC) during their search for Communists. Endfield and his family moved to England so he could continue to make a living as a writer and director. Endfield died in 1995 in Warwickshire, England. Endfield's most notable genre works are the films Mr. Hex (1946), Night of the Demon (1957, uncredited), and The Mysterious Island
