Cronus (Stargate)

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

On the series Stargate SG-1, Cronus is a Goa'uld System Lord portrayed by Ron Halder. Cronus is one of the most influential of the System Lords. Daniel suggested that there may be a connection between Cronus, and the Goa’uld, Sokar ("Serpent's Song"). Cronus is the System Lord who ordered the death of Tok'ra agent, Jolinar of Malkshur.

He visited Earth in the episode "Fair Game" to negotiate with the SGC and the Asgard for Earth's inclusion in the Asgard Protected Planets Treaty. During a break from the proceedings, fellow System Lord, Nirrti attempted to assassinate him and frame Teal'c for the crime. Teal'c had good reason to desire his murder as Cronus murdered Teal'c's father, once his First Prime for failing to achieve an impossible victory in battle. Cronus killed Teal’c’s father, Ronac, by crushing his symbiote, which allows for the symbiote’s blood to mix with the blood of the host, causing a slow and painful death ("Crossroads"). Teal'c strove to become First Prime of Cronus' most hated enemy, Apophis, hoping to take his revenge.

Cronus was eventually killed with the aid of Teal'c's duplicate in "Double Jeopardy". Cronus had taken control of Juna (P3X-729) after SG-1 and the native people vanquished the Jaffa forces of Heru-ur. Teal’c and his robot double from Altair killed Cronus on Juna. As a result of this, the SGC seized Cronus’ mothership (Double Jeopardy). The SGC later lent it to the Tok-ra on Vorash so they could transport the Stargate to a planet that is not listed on the Goa’uld maps ("Exodus").
