From SCI FI: Stargate Atlantis is an original TV Series, produced for original broadcast on The SCI FI Channel. The SCI FI Channel launched the spinoff of its popular Stargate SG-1 series, which itself was based on the SF movie Stargate, with a special two-hour telecast on July 16, 2004, introducing the Atlantis team, a group recruited for a unique mission: a one-way expedition to the Pegasus galaxy.

Led by Doctor Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), the team comprises Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), a pilot; Lieutenant Aiden Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks); Doctor Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion); and Doctor Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), an astrophysicist. Other cast members include Rachel Luttrell as a Pegasus galaxy native named Teyla; Jason Momoa as Ronan Dex, a human native to the Pegasus galaxy; and Mitch Pileggi as Colonel Steven Caldwell.

In their new home in the Ancients’ secret base of Atlantis, the team faces some serious threats, including the Ancients’ technology itself. Most terrifying of all are the Wraith, a sinister new enemy that threatens human life everywhere.
