In The Garden of Iden is the first work in the series of books referred to as the Company series. The company introduced the Botanist Mendoza and her (at times) tragic love story fuels the series as well as poses questions of ethics and consequences.

The Company or Dr. Zeus Incorporated, as it is more formally known, is the central antagonist in a series of time-travel science fiction novels and shorter works by American author Kage Baker. With the 2007 release of The Sons of Heaven (A Sci Fi Essential book for July 2007), the series has come to a hugely satisfying close.
