Comet was a fictional comic book character owned by DC Comics and is associated with the DC's Supergirl character.

Silver Age Comet

In the Silver Age of Comics, Comet, the Super-Horse, was a horse with super-powers, similar, but not identical to, a Kryptonian. He had a friendship with the Silver Age Supergirl.

Comet was a Biron, originally a centaur (half man and half horse) in ancient Greece. When the witch Circe tried to transform him into total human form, she made a mistake, and turned him into total horse form instead. She could not change him back, so she gave him super-powers and immortality as a sort of consolation prize.

Comet has the powers of flight, super-strength, and super-speed. He also has telepathic powers, which he can use to communicate with Supergirl. Whenever a comet passes through the solar system, he is turned into a man for a brief time.

Not being from Krypton, Kryptonite had no adverse affect on Comet. Comet was a member of the Legion of Super-Pets, the "animal branch" of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Modern Age Comet

This Comet had a friendship with the Matrix Supergirl during the series written by Peter David. He/she was definitely one of the stranger characters of Peter David's run.

This Comet had kind of a bizarre centaur form, though with only two horse legs instead of four. He started out as Andrew Jones, horse jockey, who had been trampled by horses during a race. He was put back together using horse DNA into the bizarre super-powered form just described. He had super-speed, flight, and ice vision powers.

When saving young Andrea Martinez from an avalanche, Andrew and Andrea magically combined forms, and were actually two people with two genders, sometimes shifting back and forth, like the Matrix Supergirl did with Linda Danvers. Andrew was in love with Supergirl, but she rejected him when she discovered he was both male and female. Due to more magical intervention, Comet later became a winged centaur.
