Claire Bennett is a fictional character on the NBC series, Heroes. The character is played by Hayden Panettiere. Claire is a 17 year-old cheerleader living in Odessa, Texas, who discovers she's invulnerable and to prove it she has undertaken horrific experiments on her body.

Claire has shoved a steel rod through her neck, taken an 80 foot dive from a bridge, walked through fire, and shoved her hand into a garbage disposal. She emerged from each incident without a scratch. Claire is horrified by her new talent and keeps it secret from her adoptive parents. This recent development has urged her to seek out her biological parents.
Claire tries to keep things normal but trouble seems drawn to her. While having a conversation on a football field, she was accidentally tackled by a football player. Her neck snapped and broke when she was hit, twisting her head completely around. She survived of course, even though anyone else would have been killed instantly. Later, while making out with a football player she had a crush on, things got out of hand and he attempted to rape her. A struggle ensued and Claire was killed when her skull was pierced by a branch. Her date dumped her body in the river but it was soon recovered. Claire awoke the next morning in the morgue after the pathologist removed the branch from her skull. Her chest had been splayed open.
Claire put herself back together and made it home. She later took revenge on the football player after learning he'd raped other girls too. She crashed his car into a wall with them both in it. They both survived and Claire informed her father of the incident. He took care of her almost-rapist by wiping his memory.
Claire was later attacked and almost killed by Sylar but she was saved by Peter Petrelli who believed saving her would ultimately prevent a devastating future. The events caused her to reveal her abilities to her father, who admitted he knew and only aimed to protect her. However, he later sent his associate The Haitian to erase her memories but he chose not to informing her of her father's intentions.
The resulting rift caused by secrecy between her and her father caused Claire to seek out her real parents. She realized the individuals introduced to her by her father when she asked to meet them had been hired to pretend to be her family. Claire found Meredith Gordon a woman with abilities to create fire. Meredith called Claire's biological father but after overhearing their meeting, Claire was disappointed to realize he did not want to meet her.
Claire and her family became hostages of Theodore Sprague and Matt Parkman in their search to find out what happened to them. During the terrifying event, Claire's abilities were revealed to her mother and Claire came to realize that her father was trying to protect her from the people he worked for. To protect her further he staged an attack on himself by The Haitian to allow her to escape with The Haitian. The Haitian wiped his memories of the events to protect Claire.
Claire made her way to New York hoping to find Peter Petrelli and instead met his mother, Angela and later her real father, Nathan Petrelli. While she did develop a relationship with her uncle, Peter she was ultimately disappointed with her biological family and happy to reunite with her adopted father. Claire lost her uncle when Nathan flew him high into the sky where he exploded from an overload of abilities.
Season 2
Following those events Claire and her family went into hiding from "The Company" and anyone who would look for them. They assumed new identities in Costa Verde, California where Claire began a new life forced to hide her true nature despite having come to terms with being different and desperate to learn more about herself.
