Cillian Murphy (b. May 25, 1976, Douglas, Cork, Ireland) is a Golden Globe-nominated Irish actor known for his skill portraying disturbed characters such as Dr. Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow) in Batman Begins (2005) and Jackson Ripper in Red Eye (2005). Murphy made his feature film debut in The Tale of Sweety Barrett (1997) and his genre debut several years later in the horror film 28 Days Later. In 2003 he appeared in Girl With a Pearl Earring alongside Scarlett Johansson. After playing a psychopath in Red Eye he starred in Breakfast on Pluto along with Liam Neeson. His performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
In 2007, Murphy starred in the scifi horror feature Sunshine and in 2008 he will reprise his role as Scarecrow in the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight. Other roles include the Salvador Dali biopic Dali & I: The Surreal Story and Telepathy
