He was born Douglas Christopher Judge on October 13, 1967 in Los Angeles California. He has one younger brother Jeff Judge who has guest starred on several episodes of Stargate SG-1.

Judge's interest in acting came early in life and he began acting while in junior high school. He was also a successful athlete and his talents won him a football scholarship to the University of Oregon where he began studying pre-med courses. Math proved difficult to master and he switched majors a few times to philosophy and then to psychology before settling on telecommunications and film with a psychology minor. He went on to study drama at the Howard Fine Studio in LA. While in college he also took up baseball but was unwilling to give up football to pursue it fully. He became an All-American three times playing defensive safety.

After winning a contest to host a morning radio show in Oregon, his interests returned to acting. From there he won roles guest starring on several TV series including Neon Rider, MacGyver, and The Fresh prince of Bel-Air. He also won roles in several movies: Bird on a Wire in 1990 and House Party 2 in 1991.

In 1997 his big break came with the series Stargate SG-1. His Character, Teal'c, was one of two main characters whose roles did not originate in the Stargate movie. He went on to play the character for 10 seasons and has been in the most episodes of all the actors.

While playing Teal'c, Judge continued to act in other roles. He had roles in the films Out of Line and the feature film Snow Dogs. He also guest starred on several TV series including First Wave, Freedom and Andromeda. He has also performed voice roles for the animated TV series X-Men: Evolution and the video games Def Jam Fight for NY and Stargate SG-1: The Alliance.
