Christina Ricci (b.February 12, 1980) is an American actress born in Santa Monica, California to lawyer Ralph Ricci and realtor Sarah Murdoch. Ricci began acting as a child appearing alongside Cher and Winona Ryder in Mermaids. She is best known to genre fans for her breakout role as Wednesday Addams in the The Addams Family films and as Kat Harvey in Casper.

Ricci is the youngest of the Ricci's four children. She grew up in Montclair, New Jersey where she attended Montclair High school for a year before moving to a private school in New York. Her parents separated in 1993 and Ricci and her siblings stayed with their mother. Ricci has no relationship with her father.

Career

Ricci was discovered at eight when she appeared in a school play at Edgemont School in Montclair. She began appearing in commercials and eventually landed her screen debut in Mermaids. Her performance led to several other roles, most notably Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and The Addams Family Values. She followed up with Casper and the coming of age drama Now and Then. Christina was golden; all her films were successes. Other early roles include Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain, Bastard Out of Carolina, The Last of the High Kings and That Darn Cat.

The Ice Storm which co-starred Tobey Maguire, Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Kline and Elijah Wood, marked Ricci's transition to more adult roles. She followed up with roles in Buffalo 66, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas with Johnny Depp and The Opposite of Sex for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination playing Dede Truitt. Genre roles include a voice role in Small Soldiers, Sleepy Hollow, Bless the Child, The Gathering and Cursed. Upcoming roles include Black Snake Moan with Samuel L. Jackson and The White Rose with Liam Neeson.
