Colonel Chekov is a fictional character on the series Stargate SG-1 portrayed by Garry Chalk. Chekov is a colonel in the Russian military in charge of Russia's Stargate operations first in Russia, and later as an envoy to the SGC. Following Russia's recovery of the Stargate from the Pacific ("Nemesis"), Chekov led Russia's Stargate program. The Russian program suffered disasters and proved short-lived.
In "48 Hours", Dr. Daniel Jackson and Major Paul Davis negotiated with Chekov for the temporary use of Russia's DHD to save Teal'c's life. Chekov ultimately agreed in exchange for money and information. The DHD was destroyed in the process preventing Chekov from ever going through the threat of using the DHD to make the Russian gate dominant.
When the US Stargate was destroyed, the US negotiated again with Chekov and his compatriots for their Gate in exchange for plans to the X-302 and other technologies as well as vast amounts of money, allowing his country to gain all the benefits of the Stargate program without the expenditure. The agreement was later amended to non-military technologies. Later, Chekov used the threat of siding with the Chinese to take the Stargate back to Russia against the SGC, to negotiate a stronger position with the SGC ("Crusade").
Russia ultimately put the plans for the X-302 to good use and built their own Daedalus-class vessel, the Korolev, which they put to use alongside other Milky Way vessels defending the galaxy against an Ori invasion. Chekov died when the Korolev was destroyed in the battle
