Charlie Hieronymous Pace is a fictional character on the series Lost played by Dominic Monaghan. Charlie is a survivor of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. He was the bassist and a secondary vocalist in the band Driveshaft and a heroin addict.
Before the Crash
Charlie was a devout catholic who served as an altar boy as a teen. He was drawn to music early and his mother recognized his talent and bought him a piano. His father, Liam was opposed to a musical career for his son. Charlie played guitar and sang on the streets in London where he ran into Desmond.
Charlie formed the band Driveshaft with his brother Liam and the band became popular. His brother turned to heroin and drew his brother into drug addiction. Charlie tried to get his brother to focus on his family. Liam's drug addiction eventually led to the downfall of the band. A year after the band broke up, Charlie visited his brother in Sydney. Liam offered to let him stay while he got clean but he rejected the offer and bought a ticket to Los Angeles on Flight 815. Charlie was locked in the bathroom when the flight began to experience turbulence. He immediately got into a seat in the flight's midsection.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
