Catwoman is the much maligned 2004 film based on the comic character, Catwoman, created by Bob Kane. The film starred Halle Berry in the title role, for which she won a Razzie Award. The film also earned a 2005 Razzie for Worst Picture and worst screenplay. The film was a critical and box office failure earning only $40 million domestically and never breaking even worldwide with its $100 million budget.

Cast

Summary

The plot varies wildly from what movie audiences knew about the Catwoman character. In the past, Catwoman was Batman's enemy: a vicious criminal with a psychological origin. In this picture, while she does seek revenge on those who have wronged her, she also helps those in need (like a child trapped on a malfunctioning ferris wheel).

Her powers are magical, given to her by a mystical cat. Her cat-like nature is out of her control, creating almost a Jekyll and Hyde situation. She has incredible reflexes, and balance, both of which come in handy during a one-on-one basketball game.

Patience Phillips is a mousy ad designer at a cosmetics company, which is about to introduce a new product. She overhears that there are toxic side effects to the soon to be mass-marketed product.

As security chases her, she is nearly drowned, but is saved when she is transformed by the cat.

The plot becomes much more convoluted, with Catwoman possibly framed for murders, a nearly invulnerable opponent, and a romantic subplot.
