101 & 102 "The Return" Air Date: July 11, 2004

Everyone is excited about a comet expected to pass by the Earth. When the comet changes direction, heading for a direct collision with the planet, panic ensues until the comet proves not to be a comet at all, and 4,400 missing people from the past 60 years all reappear in a flash of white light. The returnees are quarantined until the goverment is forced to release them. Several returnees begin to exhibit strange new abilities.

103 "The New & Improved Carl Morrissey" Air Date: July 18, 2004

4400 Carl Morrissey returns to his wife, a job as an unappreciated supermarket worker, and a neighborhood that is not as good as it used to be. When he is almost mugged and fights off his attackers, he discovers new abilities and decides to use them to fight crime and return his neighborhood to what it used to be. Lily Tyler discovers her baby daughter is a 12-year-old girl who knows nothing about her, and her ex-husband has filed a restraining order against her.

104 "Becoming" Air Date: July 25, 2004

Tom and Diana must investigate a serial killer who disappeared 25 years ago but has begun killing again. Oliver Knox, one of the 4,400, is the primary suspect. Hostility towards the 4,400 grows. Jordan Collier begins to organize the returnees.

105 "Trial by Fire" Air Date: August 1, 2004

The 4,400 are attacked in a series of fire bombings when Barbara Yates reveals their identities.

106 " White Light" Air Date: August 8, 2004

Tom becomes angry with Lyttel for taking his son Kyle into custody. The reason the 4,400 were taken is revealed. Lily goes into labor.
