Games are genre-derived or genre-related group activities that are intended to create a somewhat realistic experience of living through an adventure in an imagined world. Games were originally played using boards and counters of some sort but have evolved into highly elaborate sets of rules, and are sometimes played with figurines intended to represent individual characters and their (sometimes) magical powers. A relatively recent, and very successful, development in games has been the proliferation and popularity of computer-based games set in the worlds created in popular novels, movies, television shows, and even earlier board games. Among popular types of games are roleplaying games, MMPORGs, fantasy games, science fiction games, and vampire and horror games.
