Doctor Who is a science fiction TV series produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Its lead character is a human-looking alien known as The Doctor. The series is the longest-running science-fiction show in television history, having been broadcast on the BBC from 1963 until its “hiatus” in 1989, followed by a resurrection in 2005. A made for TV movie that aired in 1996 is also considered part of the show's official continuity.
