Cartego is a fictional Milky Way planet occupied by a people known as the Byrsa. It is regularly visited by the Goa'uld who kidnap people and transport them through the stargate to be used as hosts.

The population living near the gate developed a plan to avoid capture by the Goa'uld. When the gate is activated, they abandon their tasks and immediately head for shelter in nearby caves.

While serving as the First Prime of Apophis Teal'c visited Cartego. Under the command of Apophis, he was forced to kill one of the Byrsa. He chose a lame elderly man knowing that his injury would hinder the others from fleeing when the Goa'uld visited.

When SG-1 visited the planet, Teal'c was accused of murder and forced to undergo Cor-ai.
