Carrie-Anne Moss (b. August 21, 1967) is a Canadian actress and former model born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is best known for her role as Trinity in The Matrix film trilogy. Moss is the youngest of two children raised by her single mother Barbara. She joined children's musical theater at 11 and toured Europe with the Magee Secondary School Choir. She also took acting classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena.
Career
In the mid 80s, Moss left Canada to pursue acting. While in Spain she landed a role in the series Dark Justice. She returned to north America and settled in LA. She appeared in several genre roles including Nightmare Cafe, Forever Knight, Matrix, F/X: The Series, and Viper. In 2004, she guest-starred on Lost.
Moss' breakout role came in the hit 1999 scifi film The Matrix. She appeared in the film's two sequels and lent her voice to the video game and the Animatrix. She has also appeared in the genre films Suspect Zero and Red Planet (2000 film). Recent roles include The Chumscrubber, Fido, and Disturbia.
