Carbonite

Carbonite is a real life explosive composed of nitroglycerin, wood meal, nitrates, of sodium, sulfer and other materials.

In the context of Science Fiction, Carbonite is an ionic compound in the Star Wars universe. Carbonite was used as a means of transporting Tibanna gas to Bespin. In Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo is captured by Darth Vader who froze Han in carbonite, created a form of suspended animation. Vader sold him to Boba Fett, who then sold him to Jabba the Hutt.
