Caprica City
Caprica City

Caprica is a fictional planet in both Battlestar Galactica TV series. It is an Earth-like planet and is one of the Twelve Colonies. Caprica is the seat of the colonial government, essentially the capital of the twelve colonies. Major cities include Caprica City] and Delphi. Caprica is considered the hub of culture, politics and literature, the best of the colonial worlds.

In both series, Caprica suffers a massive Cylon attack early on. Delphi is one of the few cities on the planet that did not suffer nuclear bombardment. The Cylons used Delphi as their base of operations following their attack on the planet. Delphi was also home to the resistance movement led by Samuel Anders.

Notable natives of Caprica include the Adama family, Kara Thrace, and Gaius Baltar. Baltar later claimed to have originated on Aerolon but left the planet at eighteen for a better life.

Locations

  • Caprica City – Capital of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, Caprica city is and ocean front city once home to over seven million people. Caprica City housed the Colonial government and the Colonial Defense Mainframe. The hills above the city consisted of affluent communities and homes such as that of Dr. Gaius Baltar
  • Delphi – Like Caprica, Delphi featured a large spaceport. It also had a military base. A major city landmark is the Telamont Building. Delphi is the cultural and spiritual center of Caprica and the twelve colonies and was the home of the Forum, Temple, and Opera House, all recreated in the image of those on Kobol.
  • Oasis – A small hamlet outside Caprica City, Aaron Doral claimed it to be his home. This was of course, a lie, as Doral proved to be a Cylon.
  • Pilgrim Bay – An area on Caprica close to Delphi where the Caprica Resistance movement was able to retrieve anti-radiation medication from local hospitals.
  • Qualai – A coastal town, Qualai is the birthplace of William Adama
  • Martok Valley – region on Caprica where Kara Thrace led a rescue of the surviving resistance members.
