Candyman is a 1992 horror film written and directed by Bernard Rose based on a story by Clive Barker. Virginia Madsen stars as Helen Lyle, a student who decides to write her thesis about local myths and legends. When she hears a myth about the Candyman, a one armed man who appears to kill the person who says his name five times before a mirror, she is willing to believe the myth, despite the genuine fear of those who do. She learns more than she wishes to know when she performs the ritual herself. Tony Todd plays the Candy Man, a former slave turned artist whose hand was cut off for having an affair with a client's daughter. He was covered in honey and stung to death by bees and now returns to take his vengeance on those who call on him.
