Cameron Mitchell (Cameron Mizell) (April 11, 1918 – July 6, 1994) American character actor in films and TV, who began as a promising lead in such films as Flight to Mars (1951), the 3-D Gorilla at Large (1954), Carousel (1956) and Face of Fire (1959), but ended his career usually playing villains and madmen in low budget genre movies like Nightmare in Wax (1969), The Toolbox Murders (1978), Silent Scream (1980), Without Warning (1980), The Demon (1981), Frankenstein’s Island (1982) and The Tomb (1986). Mario Bava’s Blood and Black Lace (1964) is a rare career highlight, while Autopsy of a Ghost (1967) is a slice of surreal Mexican madness also featuring John Carradine and Basil Rathbone.
