California is a Pacific coast state in the United States of America.

Containing both Hollywood and Silicon Valley, California has contributed much to sci fi movies, tv, and games. It has also been well represented in science, including space exploration. Berkeley is known for its fannish activities. Rich in paranormal reports and investigations, it is home to Bigfoot and George Adamski (the most famous UFO contactee). Many sci fi authors live in California. It has been used as the setting for numerous sci fi works.
