Bullseye is a recurring villain for the superhero Daredevil, a fictional comic book character owned by Marvel Comics. He is a popular character, who has supported his own limited series and was portrayed by Colin Farrell in the movie Daredevil (2003). Bullsyes's occupation is professional assassin.
Bullseye’s ability is to turn any object into a deadly weapon. He can throw baseball sized objects at 105 miles per hour, and with deadly accuracy. He has killed people with pens, pencils, golf balls, paper airplanes, and paper clips. He once cut rival assassin's throat with a playing card. Again, all of these attacks are made at a distance.
He also uses conventional weapons. He has carried guns, knives, whips, shurikens, darts, and sais. He knows every weak spot or point on the human body, and can use that knowledge to either incapacitate or kill.
Character Origin
Parented by a prostitute mother and an alchoholic father, Lester had a troubling youth. He lived with his father in a trailer where he developed an interest in archery. He drew targets on his trailer home, and practiced for hours. One day, his father was in a drunken rage, and told the boy to stop drawing targets on the trailer. After the drunk had passed out, Lester drew a target on his father’s head, put a gun in his hand, pointed it at the target, and pulled the trigger.
As he grew up, Lester used his skill to become a talented baseball pitcher. He would go on to serve in the military, where he found pleasure in killing. He once killed an enemy soldier by throwing an empty gun at him. Upon his return to the United States, he decided to perfect this homicidal skill and use it for profit.
More History
Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.
Bullseye's most infamous crime is the murder of Elektra, who was a rival assassin with a romantic past with Daredevil. After that crime, he was in a pitched battle with Daredevil on wires, high over the streets. This battle ended with Bullseye falling to the street below, paralyzing his back, seemingly forever.
Another villain by the name of Lord Dark Wind, had Bullseye kidnapped from the hospital and taken to Japan. There he had Bullseye’s spine repaired with the unbreakable metal adamantium. Dark Wind wanted Bullseye to be part of his army, but Bullseye escaped and went back to the New York. Due to this twist, Bullseye’s spine and sections of his skeleton are now virtually unbreakable. This also began a tradition of Bullseye coming back from various debilitating injuries, which he seems to do again and again.
Later, Bullseye tried to kill another of Daredevil’s girlfriends, Milla Donovan. Daredevil threw Bullseye out a window, and beat him savagely. He carved a target on Bullseye’s forehead with a sharp stone. It’s a mark that Bullseye carries with him to this day.
