Bud Collyer

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Bud Collyer (June 18, 1908 New York City, New York - September 8, 1969) was an American voice artist.

This looks like a job for...Superman!

Bud Collyer's delivery of this line in the radio show of Superman became part of American pop culture. Collyer used a much lower voice for Superman than for Clark Kent. Since Superman couldn't be =shown= flying (or super-leaping) in the radio show, Collyer also became known for "Up, up, and away!"

When the Fleischers needed a voice for their Superman cartoons, Collyer again filled the bill.

Not done with the character, he would again voice the Man of Steel in a series of Saturday morning cartoon series in the 1960s. He worked on the series right up to his death.

Trivia

  • Kryptonite first appeared on the radio show. Reportedly, it was introduced to give Collyer a way to take a vacation
