Bryce Dallas Howard (b. March 2, 1981) is an American actress born in Los Angeles, California to director, Ron Howard and actress and writer, Cheryl Howard. Other family members in the film industry include uncle Clint Howard, and grandparents Rance Howard and Jean Speegle Howard. She also has two younger twin sisters, Jocelyn and Paige and a brother, Reed.
Howard grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and despite being raised apart from the trapings of Hollywood or television, went on to attend the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts camp and the Steppenwolf School. She studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory and attended Tisch School of the Arts at NYU from which she graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama.
Howard appeared in three of her father's films. She played uncredited roles in Parenthood, Apollo 13, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She had her first significant role as Heather in Book of Love. Howard is best known for her starring roles in the M. Night Shyamalan films The Village, and Lady in the Water. She also appeared in the 2005 film Manderlay and the 2006 film production of the Shakespeare play As You Like It. Recent roles include the role of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3 and the upcoming film The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.
