Brian Dennis Cox (b. June 1, 1946, Dundee, Scotland) is an Emmy Award-winning Scottish actor. Cox has won the London Critics Circle Theatre Award in 1984 and 1987 for his performance in The Taming of the Shrew, Titus Andronicus, Rat in the Skull, Strange Interlude and Fashion. He also won the Laurence Olivier Theatre award in 1985 and 1989. In addition to his stage work, Cox is known for being the first actor to portray serial killer Hannibal Lecter on screen in the 1986 film Manhunter. Among his notable films are Braveheart, Chain Reaction, The Ring, Adaptation, X2 as William Stryker, Troy, Zodiac, The Water Horse, and Trick 'r Treat.
