Brett Ratner (b. March 28, 1969, Miami Beach, Florida) is an American director and producer. Son of a socialite, Ratner attended Miami Beach Senior High and later NYU. He got his start in the film industry directing music videos for Russell Simmons. Simmons recommended him as the replacement director of the film Money Talks in 1997. He followed up with his first genre feature, The Family Man, starring Nicolas Cage.
Ratner serves as an executive producer on FOX's Prison Break. He is perhaps best known to genre fans for his work on X-Men: The Last Stand . Other notable work includes the Silence of the Lambs prequel, Red Dragon, and the action comedy Rush Hour 3.
In 2008 will direct and produce the pilot for Blue Blood. He also directs New York, I love You, Mr. S: My Life with Frank Sinatra and produces the drama 21.
