Brendan James Fraser (b. December 3, 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American-Canadian actor best remembered for his heroic turn in The Mummy and its sequel The Mummy Returns. The son of a Canadian travel executive, Fraser spent his youth traveling the world, traipsing from Holland to Switzerland, London, Detroit, Rome, and Canada. He is fluent in French.
Fraser was exposed to theater in his youth and attended Seattle's Cornish Institute. Following graduation, he focused on his acting career. He made his genre film debut in the TV horror movie Child of Darkness, Child of Light and made a modest breakthrough in 1992's Encino Man, his first of many comedic ventures. He followed up with the far more serious School Ties which also featured Matt Damon and Chis O'Donnell. In 1993, he returned to genre film in Younger and Younger and followed up with the comedies Airheads and In the Army Now which co-starred his Encino Man costar, Pauly Shore.
Though a lead actor in films such as The Scout, Mrs. Winterbourne, The Scout, The Twilight of the Golds , Gods and Monsters and Blast from the Past, and starring in the $100 million cartoon adaptation, George of the Jungle, Fraser achieved his biggest success to date with the 1999 fantasy
adventure film The Mummy alongside Rachel Weisz.

He followed up with comedic roles in Dudley-Do Right, Bedazzled', Monkeybone and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. He also appeared in the drama The Quiet American with Michael Caine and the Academy-Award winning drama, Crash.
Recent and upcoming roles for Fraser include The Air I Breathe with Kevin Bacon, Inkheart with Andy Serkis, Journey 3-D, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Big Bug Man and Singularity.
