Brendan Costanza is a Viper pilot aboard the Galactica portrayed by Bodie Olmos. Costanza washed out of the Fleet Academy and was later recruited for flight training under Lt. Kara Thrace after an accident killed 13 of the fleet's Viper pilots. Costanza is often cocky and brash but is nevertheless a skilled pilot earning the call sign Hotdog.

During a training flight, the fleet came under attack by eight Cylon Raiders. Although ordered to return to Galactica, he disobeyed and returned to assist Starbuck in fighting off the Raiders. His disobedience allowed for the destruction of all four raiders. His viper was damaged in the battle and he was forced toeject and was later rescued. For his bravery, Captain Lee Adama removed his flight wings from his uniform and pinned them to Hotdog.
