Bothan

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Bothan is a race in the Star Wars "universe."

A race mentioned in Return of the Jedi; it is said many of them died in order to retrieve the Death Star II plans for the rebels. In Star Wars Galaxies, Bothans are portrayed as bipedal dog-like humanoids in appearance, averaging less than 5 feet in height, and specialize in the use of surveillance equipment, bomb disposal, ion-based weapons and silenced weapons such as needler carbines and bladed weapons. Their physique is therefore ideal for spying; as a result, covert ops and political machinations have always been valued in their culture.

"Bothan spies" appear as one of the Rebel units in the game Star Wars Battlefront II, in which they have the ability to turn partially invisible for a short amount of time, place time bombs, and operate a special, flamethrower-like weapon called the Incenerator. Possibly the most famous Bothan was a politician known as Borsk Fey'lya of the Alya clan, a former Chief of State in the New Republic. He is well known for being one of the original signatories of the Declaration of a New Republic. During his lifetime he was a political opponent of Admiral Ackbar.

Trivia

An alien species called Bothan was mentioned in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Persistence of Vision
