Plot
SG-1 returns to Chulak and are tasked with bringing back a goa'uld larvae for study. The SGC had planned to study Teal'c's symbiote but removing it would kill him. Teal'c suggested a return to Chulak to acquire a new symbiote but was initially refused by General Hammond and O'Neill. They decide to attempt the mission when Teal'c reveals his son, Ryac, would soon reach the age for implantation with a symbiote, a process he wanted to prevent. They also hope the mission will help them find more Jaffa who wish for freedom.
On Chulak, Teal'c discovers his home has been burned down and he has been branded a traitor. He comes across his former master, Bra'tac, who believes in Jaffa freedom. He leads them to a camp where Teal'c's wife Drey'auc and his son are now living. Teal'c is able to stop the Prim'tah ceremony for Ryac but soon discovers he is severely ill with Scarlet Fever and will die without a symbiote.
Ryac's health worsens, and Teal'c makes a choice to give up his own symbiote to his son. Fortunately, Carter and Daniel discovered a temple where they find several symbiotes. They manage to procure one and Daniel, angrily destroys the container with the remaining larvae.
Despite their mission objective, Sam and Daniel are forced to give the procured symbiote to Teal'c in order to save his life. Bra'tac attacks the Jaffa and Priests guarding the gate and SG1 manages to escape through the gate while Drey'auc and Ryac hide in the forest.
