Biotechnology

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Biotechnology is technology based on the biology of living organisms. It refers to any use of biological systems in the manufacture of drugs, agriculture, food processing, recycling and other technologies. The typical science fiction use of the term usually refers less to these more mundane and common current uses and more to future or advanced technologies such as engineered lifeforms, cloning, gene therapy, and the use of the biological sciences to advance evolution. The general field of biotechnology draws on expertise in chemistry, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry and embryology.
