Biomechs comprised the majority of Lord Dread's fighting forces.

Comparable in size to an average human male, they were robots originally used by the world's countries to replace human soldiers. Once Overmind became functional, it took control of all Biomech forces for use by Lyman Taggart during the Metal Wars. Though ultimately controlled by Overmind, Dread provided the orders programmed into the Biomechs and Overunits were occasionally in charge of large squadrons in the field.

A standard Biomech was not a sentient being and was equipped with programming allowing it to speak and fight. Biomechs given more programming were considered to be "higher" in rank. Those with the added programming were assigned ranks of First, Second or Third Phalanx, depending on the complexity of the aforementioned programming. The remaining eighty percent of Biomechs were standard troopers.

Each Biomech was equipped with an orange chest light that strobed at a rate individual to that robot. It was used as a means of communication between troopers and also to link them to certain pieces of equipment or transport vehicles.

Complex series of orders proved to be difficult for Biomechs, a situation that was used to the advantage of experienced human soldiers such as the Power team.
