William Bob Thornton (b. August 4, 1955, Hot Springs, Arkansas) is an Academy Award-winning American actor and screenwriter born to high school teacher William Raymond and psychic Virginia R. Faulkner. Thornton won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for the film Sling Blade. He was also nominated for his performance. Genre fans will remember Thornton for his appearance in the sci fi disaster film, Armageddon and The Astronaut Farmer.
