Billie Piper (b. September 22, 1982) is a British actress and pop star born in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. Piper is best known to scifi fans for her role as Rose Tyler on the series Doctor Who. She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After appearing in an ad campaign for pop music magazine, "Smash Hits", she released her first single Because We Want to at age 15. The song was a hit and several other hit singles followed.

Piper began her film acting career in uncredited roles in The Leading Man and Music Chronicles. Her other roles include The Calcium Kid, Things to Do Before You're 30, Spirit Trap, Much Ado About Nothing, The Ruby in the Smoke, Mansfield Park and The Shadow in the North.
