Beowulf is an Old English epic poem from an unknown author. It is one of the oldest known works of English literature. The poem's manuscript is believed to have been recorded at some point between the 8th and 11th centuries. The story tells the tale of the great hero Beowulf of the Gears, who arrives in Denmark and battles against the monster Grendel, Grendel's mother and a dragon.
