In the Stargate universe, the Beliskner, known in Norse mythology as "Thor's Chariot", is an Asgard spacecraft, commanded by Thor.
History
The Beliskner is first seen in the second season episode "Thor's Chariot" when Thor is called upon to rescue Cimmeria from a Goa'uld invasion. The ship is not fully seen, but makes use of Asgard transporter technology to transport the Jaffa invaders and their ships from the planet.
In the episode "Fair Game", the Beliskner becomes overrun by Replicators and makes its way to Earth. Thor transports Jack O'Neill aboard to gain his help in preventing the Replicators from destroying Earth. To save the planet, SG-1 destroys the ship's deceleration drive and unable to reduce speed, it burns up in Earth's atmosphere.
Specifications
A Beliskner-class vessel is significantly larger than the Earth ship Prometheus. Unlike most mother ships which carry smaller vessels, a Beliskner does not appear to carry any smaller ships. It has sophisticated AI technology allowing it to be manned by a single Asgard. They are the fastest known ships in the galaxy and can travel between galaxies in a fraction of the time it takes the Daedalus' intergalactic hyperdrive engines. In the case of the Asgard galaxy and the Milky Way, the trip is made in a matter of minutes. The ships are capable of rendering themselves undetectable to scanning technology including radar.
A Beliskner class vessel is powered by four neutrino ion generators and has two rear thrusters for propulsion. It also has a deceleration drive designed to control atmosphere reentry. All generators combine to provide four trillion joules of power. Within the ship are energy dampening fields that suppresses internal explosions, reducing their impact.
Like other Asgard vessels, A Beliskner-class ship has shields that have proven second only in strength to that of the Ancients. In combination with its energy weapons, it outmatches several goa'uld Ha'tak vessels. This technological superiority lasted until the half-ascended goa'uldAnubis upgraded his goa'uld vessels with knowledge of Ancient technology.
The most visually spectacular of Asgard technology is their transporter technology which is able to identify and isolate specific objects and people on a planet from orbit. They also possess replicator-like technology that can synthesize objects based on schematics within their vast database.
Despite their power, Beliskner class vessels have been replaced by even more advanced Asgard ships like The O'Neill and The Daniel Jackson.
