From SCIFIPEDIA

The Battlestar Prometheus Fan Fiction Project is a story written by Ryan A. Keeton, based eighteen months before the fall of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol as seen in the SCI FI Channel Original Series Battlestar Galactica.

 • Disclaimer: Battlestar Prometheus is not endorsed by either the SCI FI Channel or by the producers of Battlestar Galactica (on which the story is based). As much as all of us would like it to be a real TV show, it is only a fan fiction project, so please Mr. Moore; DON'T SUE US!

The Story So Far...

The story of the Battlestar Prometheus is set in the time of reimagined series of Battlestar Galactica and begins eighteen months before the destruction of the Colonies.

President Adar is falling in the polls yet already looking towards re-election and his legacy as President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. To ensure both he creates "Operation Outreach", a plan to send the newest Battlestar, the Prometheus, on a mission of deep space exploration. What he doesn't reveal to the general public is that he has also given orders to follow the trail of the Thirteenth Tribe and find the lost colony of Earth. He knows that doing this will secure not only his re-election, but his legacy as the President who reunited humanity.

The Prometheus is a Nova Class Battlestar, the newest and most advanced warship ever built by human hands. Orignially designated to be the Colonial Fleet command vessel she is detatched from that duty shortly before her launch and assigned to Operation Outreach under the command of Commander Jonathan Turner.

FIRST SEASON:

The Prometheus launches with her two escort vessels, the Gunstars Vigilant and Sentinel. They begin their journey and thanks in large part to the efforts of Doctor Lucian Zylman (Also known as Doctor Z), the Colonies foremost expert on the origins of Kobol and the legacy of the Thirteenth Tribe, the Prometheus finds the lost world of Kobol and uses a replica of the Arrow of Apollo to track the path of the Thirteenth Tribe.

CHILDREN OF THE EXILES:

Aproximately five months into their voyage the Prometheus discovers human life where none should be. After an investigation they discover that these humans are descendants of "The Exiles of the Thirteenth Tribe"; people who were cast out of the Thirteenth Tribe due to their tyrannical beliefs in human superiority in regards to alien cultures.

Once cast out these people colonized a world they named Terra and quickly expanded to other worlds, conquering any who stood in their path. Several non-human cultures now serve what has become known as the Terran Alliance.

It is here, among this darkest side of humanity that the crew of the Prometheus finds it's greatest struggle. It is here that they discover the evil intentions of the Alliance: to return to their lost Twelve Brothers and Sisters and reunite them... under their rule.

Current Status

Since it's creation the Battlestar Prometheus Fan Fiction Project website has seen over seven thousand hits and has over one hundred dedicated readers. It has recieved rave reviews and endorsements from such organizations as the Colonial Defenses Forces Fan Club and also from Mr. Richard Hatch, the actor who plays Tom Zarek in the new BSG series and who originated the character of Apollo in the original series of BSG.

The Prometheus FFP also acknowledges other great organizations with the Prometheus name such as the Battlestar Prometheus SIM and the Battlestar Prometheus Chapter of the Colonial Defense Forces fan club.

Ryan has 'tipped the hat' to the SIM by refering in one episode to the Original Prometheus as the Fleet Training Vessel and to the C.D.F. by writing a story titled "The Battle of Caprica" which details the original Prometheus and Galactica's heroic stand against the Cylons during the Original Cylon War. (This story just happens to star all of the current members of the Prometheus Chapter of the C.D.F.)

What can I say? Ryan likes to give back to his and other BSG fans.
