Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 is the much maligned film adaptation of L. Ron Hubbard's novel Battlefield Earth. John Travolta starred in the film which was strongly criticized as a vehicle for Scientology. With a budget of over $70 million the film did not quite break $30 million world-wide and is considered one of the worst films ever made. The movie is the winner of seven 2001 Razzie Awards and also in 2005 won a Razzie for worst drama in the twenty-five year history of the awards.

Summary

The film is set in a dystopian future, the year 3000 when humanity has been mostly wiped out by an alien invasion and reduced to primitive, superstitious slaves, fearful of technology. John Travolta plays alien security chief, Teri who works as an overseer of human slaves mining gold on Earth. Barry Pepper plays human Jonnie Goodboy Tyler, who decides to rebel against the alien overlords and free his people.
