Batou is a cyborg counter-terrorism agent, second-in-commannd of Public Security Section 9 in the Ghost in the Shell series. A tall, powerfully built ex-special forces soldier with a jocular attitude. Served in special forces Ranger squad in South America during World War IV, in which he acquired very advanced Ranger-issued optical implants, which are obviously not organic eyes.
