Batman Returns is the 1992 sequel to the 1989 film Batman. Tim Burton returned as director with Daniel Waters and Sam Hamm as screenwriters. Michael Keaton reprised his role as Batman and a new villain in the form of Penguin was played by Danny DeVito. Also joining the cast as Catwoman was Michelle Pfeiffer. Batman Returns, though a financial success, did not live up to the success of its predecessor. Burton's style was blamed for the failure and he was replaced by Joel Schumacher who directed Batman Forever and its follow ups.

Summary

Batman must face his latest nemesis, Penguin, a deformed criminal desiorus of being accepted by Gotham society. Businessman Max Schreck, played by Christopher Walken, is convinced to aid the Penguin in his quest to become Mayor and ruining Batman's heroic reputation. Secretary, Selina Kyle, is transformed into the infamous cat woman and Batman must decide how best to deal with her while trying to defeat his new enemies.
