Batman: the Killing Joke (1988) is a graphic novel written by by Alan Moore and drawn by Brian Bolland and John Higgins, published by DC Comics.

The popular and influential comic book story is most famous for re-defining the comic book villain the Joker, as well as his relationship with the popular comic book superhero, Batman. It is also known for a significant plot point, in which the Joker shoots Barbara Gordon, known to fans as Batgirl up until that time. The event lead to a series of circumstances which resulted in Barbara becoming Oracle, another mysterious character in the DC Comics Universe.
