Babes in Toyland is a 1986 TV musical fantasy directed by Clive Donner . The movie is a loosely based on the 1934 Laurel and Hardy fantasy of the same name. Drew Barrymore stars as Lisa Piper, an 11 year old who has taken on the adult responsibility of caring for her siblings. On Christmas eve, during a blizzard, she is magically transported to Toyland where a wedding is underway. Mary Contrary is forced to marry Barnaby despite her love for Jack Be Nimble. Lisa does her best to put a stop to the wedding and with the help of her new Toyland friends discovers Barnaby's evil plot to take over Toyland. They turn to the Toymaster for help but he can do nothing unless Lisa truly believes in toys.
